Jaws The Shark is the solo project of Olly Bailey, who grew up in a small town in Devon before relocating to London. He had spent several years on the road as a tour manager for UK artists before forming the project during the first national lockdown, when he escaped London for the Devon countryside and finally had time to realise the ideas he had been storing up. The result is nineties-leaning indie rock that pulls in electronic and shoegaze alongside straight rock and indie. Support from BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 1 and Radio X led to a deal with So Recordings, home to Placebo, Enter Shikari and Deaf Havana, and he has collaborated with Dinosaur Pile-Up on the single Destroy The World. The name comes from an episode of Peep Show in which Jez keeps saying 'Jaws the shark'.
